Real work experience and local support for young people

Why choose Travel & Learn?

We help schools and sending organisations create internships in Italy that combine practical learning, everyday life and local support.

An immersive experience

Living abroad means finding your way in a new place, meeting people and using language in everyday situations. Shared accommodation and life outside work make the stay part of the learning experience.

Young participants developing practical skills together in a host company

Professional learning

Participants apply their training in Italian workplaces, from manufacturing to hotels and restaurants. Working alongside local teams helps them build practical skills, understand workplace expectations and explore their professional interests.

Personal support

Support begins with a welcome session covering the programme, accommodation, transport and workplace routines. On the first working day, we accompany participants to their host companies.

Throughout the stay, we provide practical and personal support and maintain contact with sending organisations and host companies. A final meeting, including feedback at the host company, helps participants reflect on their progress.

Young mobility participants connecting with people in the local community

A connection with the local area

Through host companies and local communities, participants discover the skills, traditions and working practices of the area. They get to know Italy through the people who live and work here.

2. How your internship experience works

We agree the placement, learning objectives and practical arrangements with the sending organisation, taking account of participants’ training, ages and needs.

01

Internship programmes

Each programme starts with what participants need to learn. Together, we define the professional fields, dates, duration and learning objectives, then identify the activities and support suited to the group.

We work with Erasmus+ projects and other international training and mobility pathways.

02

WORK Placement matching

We consider participants’ studies, skills, language knowledge and learning goals when identifying suitable host companies.

Our network includes local SMEs in production, hospitality, catering and other sectors. Placements are arranged according to the project requirements and company availability.

03

Accommodation

Accommodation is an important part of the experience, particularly for young people living abroad for the first time.

We help organise a suitable solution, taking account of the group’s ages, size, destination and practical requirements, including travel to the workplace.

04

Tutoring

Our tutors provide a point of contact throughout the stay. They help participants reflect on their experience, discuss progress and address difficulties.

Contact with the sending organisation and workplace tutor helps keep the placement connected to its learning objectives.

05

Cultural programme

Visits and local activities, when included in the agreed programme, help participants discover the area outside work and spend time together.

06

Local support

From arrival information to understanding local transport and daily routines, practical support helps participants find their feet.

We agree the services needed with each sending organisation, so the group knows what to expect and whom to contact during the stay.

3. Experience life in Italy

An internship is a chance to get to know Italy through everyday experience. Brescia, Bergamo and Trento offer different settings for discovering local communities, culture and working life.

Territory

Explore the place where you are staying: its neighbourhoods, landscapes, businesses and meeting places. Discover how the local area shapes people’s lives and work.

Community

Meet colleagues, tutors and local people. Everyday conversations and shared activities help participants feel more connected to their surroundings and practise communicating across cultures.

Culture

Discover local history, traditions and ways of life. Cultural experiences provide context for what participants see around them and encourage curiosity about a different country.

Everyday life

Learning to navigate a new place, organise a daily routine and share accommodation can build confidence and independence. These everyday experiences are an important part of learning abroad.

4. Why trust Travel & Learn?

Skills to take home

An internship abroad is also a chance to develop independence, adaptability and confidence: finding your way in a new place, communicating across cultures and taking responsibility in everyday situations.
